My hair started thinning when I was 30 years old, which was a real problem for me … (and, as I would imagine, most men). I started to wear baseball caps because I felt embarrassed about it. I then decided to see Dr. Chang for a consultation, which was very exciting. Afterwards, I went ahead with my first procedure. Though I was not bald, I was receding and thinning on my hairline; I decided to be proactive, because I knew if I waited until I was really thin, then people would know I had hair transplants -- which for me, I wanted to keep secret. I do have a friend who loves to tell everybody about is hair transplants … but quite frankly, nobody would know if he did not tell them. But I guess we have different views about it.

The procedure was truly painless -- which was a complete shock to me. Dr. Chang is a very thoughtful and understanding individual, and to his credit, has given me back my self esteem 10 fold. The most gratifying situation occurred for me in the summer of 2004 when I was 37 years old. A friend of mine was getting married, and I knew there would be a lot of people that I have not seen in a while and were all unaware of my procedure; they were use to seeing me wearing caps in the past. So I arrived at the wedding with my hair spiked up and dyed black … and knowing, rather than just feeling, that I was looking hot!! And when I saw my buddy at the wedding (the groom), he said to me, “Man your hair looks great!!! I don’t know why you always wear hats.” And I could tell he was sincere, and most important, he did not suspect or ask questions or anything ... I could have died and gone to heaven. Then, after the marriage ceremony, I saw the bride (whom I have known as long as the groom, about 8 years) ... and she said to me, “Your hair looks so good cut short like that; you should wear it that way always!!” In the past, I always wore my hair long in the back to make up for what I lacked on top; so it was a complete new look for me, so they did not have a clue that I had anything done. It is simply amazing that this kind of result can be obtained. I am just glad that this technology is available just when I needed it. The old huge plugs form the 80’s is long gone, and it is beyond belief what this has done for me.
