However, we always encourage our patients to use Propecia to prevent future hair loss if they are at the active hair loss period.

According to Merck's 5 years study, 90% of patients on Propecia do not lose hair and 48% will see some degrees of improvement, while only 25% of the placebo group (patients who took sugar pills instead of Propecia) had no visible hair loss and 75% had some degree of decreased hair count.
