Post-Operative Care & Recovery

The NHT team is available to provide you with comprehensive support throughout your recovery journey with clear instructions and responsive care.

For FUT 2.0 patients, post-operative care is delivered as part of the HUMS Protocol — NHT's integrated care system designed to protect your surgical result and optimize scar healing.

What to Expect

Week 1: Initial Healing

Mild swelling and redness are normal and typically resolve within 3-5 days.

You'll receive detailed care instructions for washing, sleeping position, and activity restrictions.

Most patients return to desk work within 2-3 days.

We're available for any questions or concerns during this critical period.

FUT 2.0

  • Donor area bandage removed after 24-48 hours; linear incision begins healing immediately under closure.

FUE 2.0

  • No bandages needed; tiny extraction sites begin healing immediately with small scabs forming at each point.

Week 2-4: Continued Healing & Rest Phase

FUT 2.0

  • Follow-up appointments at 9 and 12 days for suture removal and wound assessment — allowing early intervention if needed.

FUE 2.0

  • No suture removal needed—extraction sites heal naturally and micro-scabs fall off. Micro-scars typically fade to near-invisibility within 1-2 weeks.

Transplanted hairs begin to shed—this is normal and expected ("shock loss").

More vigorous exercise and heavy lifting resume after 3-4 weeks.

Months 12-18: Final Results

Hair reaches full maturity with maximum thickness and density.

Final results showcase natural appearance and complete coverage.

FUT 2.0

  • The HUMS Protocol's structured recovery delivers its final result — a nearly invisible linear scar with hair growing naturally through it, even with short hairstyles.

FUE 2.0

  • Tiny circular scars (0.9mm) remain nearly invisible, allowing buzz cuts with confidence.

Months 3-12: Growth & Maturation

New hair growth typically begins around month 3-4.

Hair emerges thin initially, then gradually thickens and gains density.

Months 6-8: Significant coverage becomes visible (approximately 60-70% of final result).

Month 9-12: Continued improvement in thickness, texture, and overall appearance.

FUT 2.0

  • Donor scar becomes increasingly difficult to detect as hair grows through it.

FUE 2.0

  • Donor area micro-scars remain virtually undetectable, even with very short hair.

Life Long Results

Your transplanted hair is permanent and genetically resistant to balding. It will continue growing naturally for life, requiring no special maintenance beyond normal hair care.
