NHT's Unique Pricing Policy

At NHT, our hair transplant pricing structure reflects our clinical approach: we charge based on the size of donor tissue harvested, measured by hair / follicular unit count, rather than the number of grafts produced. This pricing model aligns with our philosophy of optimizing graft selection for maximum density and natural, long-lasting results.​​​

Hair Transplant Pricing Model

Base Rate:

  • FUT 2.0 via HUMS Protocol: $2.00 per hair

  • FUE 2.0: $6.00 per follicular unit


What This Means: On average, one square centimeter of donor tissue contains approximately 200 hairs or 100 follicular units (FU). Since we can measure donor area precisely before surgery, you'll know your exact procedure cost during your consultation.


Minimum Investment for FUT 2.0: $4,500

Minimum Investment for FUE 2.0: $6,000
Optional Add-On: Twilight IV Sedation +$500

Why Per-Graft Pricing Became the Industry Standard

The vast majority of hair transplant clinics use per-graft pricing for understandable reasons.

This model evolved naturally as surgical techniques became more refined, moving from large "plug" grafts in the 1970s to the individual follicular units used today. 

Per-graft Pricing Benefits

  • ​Measurable Units: Grafts provide a standardized, countable metric that patients can understand and compare across clinics.

  • Effort-Based: Each graft requires individual harvesting and placement, making per-unit pricing a reasonable reflection of surgical labor.

  • Scalability: Costs scale proportionally with the extent of coverage needed.

  • Industry Transparency: Widespread adoption has made comparison shopping more straightforward.​

Why NHT Chose a Different Approach

Our donor-size pricing model stems from a fundamental clinical philosophy:

We believe the key to natural results lies in using the optimal combination of graft sizes for each patient.

What creates fullness and natural appearance is the total number of hairs transplanted—not how many individual pieces those hairs are divided into. The same donor tissue can be divided into vastly different graft numbers depending on how the tissue is sectioned. By focusing on hair count rather than graft count, we align pricing with what actually determines your visual results.

Clinical Freedom in Graft Selection

We use three types of grafts strategically:

  • Single follicular units (1-2 hairs): Ideal for hairline refinement and the most natural frontal appearance.

  • Single follicular units (2-3 hairs): The most common naturally occurring size.

  • Bi-follicular units (3-4 hairs): Essential for creating density, with research showing better survival rates than ultra-thin grafts.

For many patients, using some bi-follicular units alongside single follicular units produces superior outcomes—better graft survival, enhanced density, and particularly improved results for patients with curly, gray, or fine hair, or those covering larger areas. When pricing isn't tied to graft count, we can select the ideal combination of graft sizes based purely on your clinical needs, without any financial consideration influencing that medical decision.

Precise Cost Calculation

Donor tissue can be measured and harvested to exact specifications. We cannot, however, predict the precise graft count that tissue will yield before surgery—follicular unit size varies naturally across your donor area, and the final number depends on how each individual unit is dissected.


With donor-size pricing, you know your exact cost during consultation. There are no surprises, no additional charges if your tissue yields "extra grafts," and no shortfalls if your natural follicular units run larger than average.

How NHT’s Approach Benefits You

Complete Cost Transparency

Under donor area pricing, you'll know your exact procedure cost before surgery. With per-graft pricing, final costs remain uncertain until after surgery—unless the graft count is fixed in advance, which can limit clinical flexibility.

Donor tissue-based pricing allows your surgeon to focus entirely on creating the most natural results using the ideal graft combination for your specific situation, without constraints imposed by pre-agreed graft counts.

Our before-and-after galleries organize results by density increase (the percentage improvement in coverage) rather than graft count. This allows you to see actual visual outcomes for patients with similar characteristics and goals—a more meaningful comparison than graft numbers, which vary dramatically based on dissection technique.

We understand that comparing our pricing to per-graft clinics requires some translation. 

Understanding the Conversion

Example: 

  • 1 cm² of donor tissue ~200 hairs organized into ~100 follicular units

NHT FUT 2.0 via HUMS Protocol:

  • Cost: $2.00 per hair x 200 hairs = $400 per cm²

  • Per graft equivalent: $400 / 100 follicular units = $4.00 per graft

NHT FUE 2.0:​

  • Cost: $6.00 per follicular unit = $6.00 per graft

This calculation becomes less relevant when procedures include strategic use of larger grafts. The more important metric is: How many hairs are being transplanted into what area to achieve a specific level of  density increase? That's what determines your visual result.
